KANTER 53

Designed as a “pilothouse cutter”, the Kanter 53 was initially created for a British yachtsman who yearned for a vessel that exuded beauty and speed. Beyond its style and performance, the Kanter 53 also boasts the safety and comfort expected of a world-class yacht.

As performance and ease of operation are crucial to the success of a cruising yacht, the Kanter 53 was designed to be a pleasure to pilot, in good weather or bad.

Designed by Dieter Empacher, a leading international naval architect, the hull form of the Kanter 53 guarantees an excellent reaching boat while keeping the entrance of the waterline fine for good upwind capability. The keel has been designed for maximum lift and the low-wetted surface ensures good light-air performance, though it can be modified to meet each owner’s individual draft requirements. With her easy handling, the Kanter 53 is a comfortable day-sailor or an impressive self-contained long-distance ocean cruiser.

The hull, deck and superstructure of the Kanter 53 are one welded unit, constructed from aluminum marine alloy. Welded, watertight aluminum bulkheads fore and aft make for an incredibly strong, safe craft. The hull design features integral storage tanks for water and fuel below the sole. This makes for a double-skinned hull for additional safety and enhanced cruising comfort while lowering the craft’s centre of gravity to reduce the angle of heeling.

The engine room is sound-insulated for improved in-cabin comfort and on-deck cruising and stores all equipment – including the engine, generator, air conditioner and fresh-water system – in a convenient, central location. Practical, intelligent design ensures the layout and selection of mechanical and electrical systems make routine upkeep simple and convenient.

The interior of the Kanter 53 is just as impressive as its engineering and exterior style. Attractive, functional and – most important of all – totally customizable to meet your specific needs, the interior of the Kanter 53 was designed to make every moment on board a pleasure.

True craftsmanship and attention to detail are evident throughout the Kanter 53, with beautiful cherry, ash or even optional teak finishes featured prominently – although more modern finishes can also be used to suit your individual sense of style.

The Kanter 53 features a curved staircase leading up to the deck bridge that counter-balances the port-side wrap-around lounge area. A fully equipped, U-shaped galley lies opposite a cozy dinette, while two comfortable double staterooms share the second head with a separate shower stall. The main stateroom is in the aft over the centreline for total comfort and features a double berth as well as a private head and shower stall.

Designed to convey a true sense of beauty and speed while ensuring total comfort and convenience no matter what the weather, the Kanter 53 balances traditional and modern approaches for truly exceptional performance and pleasure.
