PASSAGE MAKER 62

Kanter Yachts has a history of building robust power craft including constructing search-and-rescue craft for the Coast Guard. Unwavering commitment to dependability is the hallmark of a Kanter yacht. No less demanding is the attention to fine detail in interior appointments. Every component is specifically selected to enhance the cruising and live-aboard experience.

In keeping with this fine tradition, Kanter is proud to present the Passage Maker 62 Pilothouse Motoryacht: the perfect choice for a family or two couples with sights set on distant horizons. Whether docked, hopping between islands or cruising between continents, the Kanter 62’s efficient and dependable performance and her timeless profile will be a source of pride and pleasure for years to come.

Designed by world-renowned naval architect Chuck Paine, the Passage Maker 62 features the same substantial construction and rugged materials that allow Coast Guard craft to weather some of the most violent conditions in nature. The high-strength welded aluminum hull is widely accepted as providing the ultimate in leak-proof strength, an assurance of quality when miles of sea lie between you and safe harbour. A low-drag hull enables trips of up to 3,100 miles between fuelling, putting Europe within easy reach of North America via Bermuda-Azores. Built for cruising safety and fitted for comfort and style, the Passage Maker 62 represents the pinnacle of motor-yachting heritage.

The Passage Maker 62’s profile is dominated by the timeless raised pilothouse behind a Portuguese bridge. The design – successfully pioneered in Kanter’s Passage Maker 54 – is further refined to take full advantage of the unparalleled visibility afforded by this popular style. Just aft is the spacious main salon and generous cockpit, while full side decks provide passage fore and aft without intruding on accommodations.

The craft’s responsive performance is ensured by a round-bilged forward bottom that transitions to a chine aft with a single spray rail and a fairly high prismatic co-efficient of 0.67. A full-length keel dampens roll and shields against grounding to protect the rudder and propeller. Welded-aluminum construction provides great strength at only moderate displacement, an asset that contributes to the Passage Maker 62’s impressive range and top speed.

The stern shape has been dictated by the desirability of reducing roll, making the yacht more comfortable to live aboard. Besides adding safety, fuel efficiency and range are also enhanced. The tanks are integral, providing additional hull strength and a double bottom where they occur. Tanks carry 2,800 gallons of fuel and 500 gallons of fresh water. Day tank, waste and grey-water tanks are of a removable construction.

The extremely large engine room with nearly full standing headroom is located under the salon, offering easy access to the machinery. A modest genset will be sufficient to provide heating, air conditioning and all of the comforts of a shore-side home.

The interior of the Passage Maker 62 offers truly spacious accommodation. Her pilothouse forward configuration results in exceptionally large and well-appointed quarters for a yacht of this size. The forward owner’s suite is especially expansive, featuring his and hers bathrooms — although one of them could be converted to serve as a laundry and clothes storage room.

The raised pilothouse and full-windowed salon offer extraordinary views whether standing off an isolated key or entering a busy harbour. The galley boasts excellent natural lighting as well as easy access to the salon and pilothouse. The Passage Maker 62 is a truly versatile vessel – evidenced by its large, well-lit dinette that doubles as a watch stander’s berth.

The Kanter Yachts’ tradition of boat-building excellence reaches its pinnacle with the distinctively styled Passage Maker 62 Pilothouse Motoryacht, a world-class vessel designed to ensure elegant and comfortable passage as well as safe, efficient and effortless performance.
